12:00 – Kvitova v Suarez Navarro
Rankings are 55 and 34. Head to head is 1-0 to Kvitova which was in Feb this year.
Neither player has lost a set this week but I would give Kvitova a slight edge. She has had the harder route to this stage. Betfair has her at 1.54 which i think is too short.
S-N’s slightly easier opponents may mean that she isn’t quite as sharp as her opponent.
Probably 3 setter. Use 15-40.
Update: A close match that pretty much went with serve. Kvitova got the break in the first set at 5-5. She served out for the set. In the second she got the break at 4-4 and again held serve to take the match
The result is as expected but i thought there would be more breaks of serve.
Kvitova won 7-5, 6-4
18:00 – Wickmayer v Errani
Rankings are 24 and 49. Head to head is 1-0 to Wickmayer which was in the US open in September.
Wickmayer has looked the least impressive of the two. I have a sneaky feeling that Errani could take this. The thing about Errani is that she rarely strings 3 good matches together. I wonder if she has used up her energy and mental strength to get to this point.
Wickmayer has made a slow start in her last 2 matches and Errani needs to take advantage of that if her opponent does the same today. Is she can nick the first set she in with a great chance.
Use 15-40 🙂
Update: Errani had her chances in the first set which was full of breaks of serve. She needed to take the first set as Wickmayer has been getting stronger as her matches progress. She didn’t quite make it, losing the first 7-5. Wickmayer broke early in the second set ( just after I had greened up – typical!) and took the second set 6-3.
Decent profit of £67 which would have been bigger if I’d waited another game. 15-40 working well 🙂
