13:30 – Olaru v Georges
Rankings are 76 and 79. Head to head is 1-0 to Olaru.
Interesting match up here with 2 ladies who have caused an upset or 2 in their time. They can’t keep their top form consistently which is why they are in the 70’s but when they hit a vein of form they can be tough to beat.
Their only previous meeting was on clay and it was decided on a tie break in the 3rd set.
The market has Georges as fave at 1.56 but I’m not so sure. Too close to call with any confidence though so 15-40 is the best strategy here.
Update: Olaru won 3-6, 6-2, 7-5. Plenty price swings in this one. Olaru was 2-0 in the final set and Georges pulled back to 5-4 up. Olaru took the next 3 games for a good victory.
17:00 – Wickmayer v Dulgheru
Rankings are 24 and 53. They have never met.
The market has Wickmayer as a strong favourite at 1.44 but she was less than convincing in her match last night. She was unable to take advantage of several break points and faced a few herself. That was against a player who she would be expected to beat easily.
Dulgheru beat Bammer in the last round 6-3, 6-1 so she is playing well.
Expect a few swings and breaks here 🙂
Update: Wickmayer made a terrible start and lost the first set. She then got her act together and won the next 2 sets fairly comfortably.
She won 2-6, 6-3, 6-1
