10:00 – Starace v Hernandez
Rankings are 73 and 84. Head to heads are 4-0 to Starace (all on clay courts).
Hernandez usually leaves a tournament in the first sround. However he managed a good win against Mathieu on Monday.
Starace’s performances have been up and down this year but he played well enough in his match against Luczak to suggest a mini run of form.
Either use scalping/15-40 or you could back Starace from the start. Only do this if you have a strategy for what to do if it goes against you.
Starace to win in 2 sets.
Update: Unfortunately I wasn’t able to trade this one 🙁
Starace won 6-2, 6-1.
14:00 – Serra v Robert
Rankings are 57 and 65. They haven’t played before.
Robert plays most of his tennis on the Challenger tour. He won their event in February. He also reached the final of the SA Open, an ATP tour event, in the same month beating David Ferrer in the semi final.
Serra has played very solid tennis all season and will be expecting to win this match.
I can see it being very close with several decent price swings.
Use scalping and 15-40.
Serra to win in 2 very tight sets.
Update: A match full of mistakes but we did get the predicted price swings.
Serra won 2-6, 6-1, 6-3. I arrived home part way through the first set so missed the first break. A decent result in the end.
