20:00 – Lopez v Soderling
Rankings are 34 and 7. Head to heads are 4-3 to Lopez.
Soderling has had a good run of results since his first round exit from the Australian Open in January.
Lopez has fought hard this season as always but with little reward.
Soderling hits 62% of his first serves and wins 86% of his service games.
One stat to note is that Lopez tops the table for break points saved at an incredible 76%.
I may back Soderling from the start but perhaps better to back him on serve. Make sure you have a plan for what to do if the game goes against you. Strategies for this are on the members area at TradeShark Tennis.
Update: Tough first set with Soderling winning it on a tie break. he won an early break in the second set and held on for the match.
Soderling won 7-6, 6-4.
22:00 – Greul v Melzer
Rankings are 58 and 28. Head to heads are 2-1 to Greul. Greul won their last 2 matches although both were on clay.
Melzer has been very consistent in 2010. He has regularly been reaching the quarter final stage of tournaments.
Greul had a good win against Monfils in the last round and has also beaten Tsonga and Isner this year.
Melzer wins 82% of his service games. He knows how to play the latter rounds of tournaments and that will be his edge today.
Back Melzer on serve. I’d expect him to win in 2 tight sets.
Update: Melzer goes through as Greul pulled out before with match.
