Malaysia Classic – Final

08:00 – Dementieva v Kleybanova

Rankings are 7 and 31. They haven’t met before.

Dementieva has been in great form this week losing an average of just 4 games per match.

Kleybanova has had a tougher route to the final having two 3 set matches and its hard to see her winning today.

As Dementieva starts at 1.22 its tempting to lay her from the start. As I expect her to win the match I don’t see that strategy getting more than a few ticks so unless you’re using a large bank it may not be the way to go.

You could back Dementieva from the start and green up when she wins the opening set.

Straight sets win for Dementieva.

Update: WOW! Could I ( and the market) have been more wrong? Dementieva was below her best but Kleybanova played some inspired tennis to take her first title.

After a 2 hour reain delay at 1-1 in the first I expected Dementieva to handle the disruption much better than her oponwnt who was in her first WTA final but the opposite was true.

Kleybanova fully deserved her win as she totally battered the number 1 seed. She won 6-3, 6-2.

Trading-wise this match shows again that even if you call a match wrong you can still come way with a very tidy profit. I backed Dementieva from the start ( I had reduced my stakes as there was a possibility that I was going to be interrupted). I traded out at the rain break but got back in at the restart as Dementieva was 15-0 up against serve and I thought Kleybanova may have been unsettled.

When Dementieva was a break point down I hedged out for around -£18 an then layed Dementieva as it was clear that her opponent was on top.

More than happy with an 80% return against the stake used.

  1. Paul, could you tell me how you obtain a “split screen” shot as you’ve shown in the Dementeiva V Kleybanova trade.
It would be a great advantage to trade like that, but I’m not very technical minded I’m afraid.

    Thanks,

    Colin.

    1. Hi Colin,

Very easy. Dont have any of the windows maximised and just move the trading software, scoreboard and video windows around so you can see them all at the same time.
