13:00 – Tipsarevic v Ljubicic
Rankings are 55 and 46. Head to heads are 2-0 to Ljubicic.
Neither man has had a spectacular run of results but Ljubicic has been unlucky enough to meet Djokovic in 2 of the last 3 tournamnets. He is slight favourite on Betfair at 1.83.
Ljubicic wins 83% of his service games but only breaks serve 15% of the time. Tipsarevic wins 78% of his service games and breaks serve 24% of the time.
Ljubicic saves 66% of break points against him to his opponent’s 59%.
I read those stats as giving Tipsarevic a slight edge. Both men could be backed on serve but if you only want to back one of them I would suggest it is Tipsarevic as, statistically, Ljubicic is less likely to break him.
Should be very close and I would expect at least 1 tie break.
Update: Tipsarevic won 6-4, 7-6
15:00 – Petzschner v Llodra
Rankings are 35 and 134. They have never met.
This could be a long match! Fairly even on Betfair despite a hundred ranking places between them. Petzschner plays a lot of tie breaks. His service game is quite solid but he struggles to break down any half decent server.
Llodra hasn’t been at his best recently but had a good resut in the last round, beating Zverev in 3 sets.
Backing Petzschner on his serve should be profitable especially if Llodra can keep his own serve consistent. I would be wary of also backing Llodra’s serve though as he will have to be on top form to live with Petzschner.
Petzschner in 2 tight sets or a 3 setter.
Update: Petzschner won 7-6, 6-3
