Monday 20th May 2013

We have 4 tournaments this week as players finsih their preparation for the French Open nexct week. Watch out for some of the top players who may not have a lot of points to defend this week that may fancy their chances of getting through a few rounds at Roland Garros and won’t be too unhappy at a few days’ rest.

Lots of games today so markets may be a little thin in many of them. Tread carefully. With so many to choose from it’s difficult to pick out 2 or 3 to put on here. So it’s one of those days when I’ll give very short thoughts on more matches.

Nieminen shouldn’t have any problems with Lacko who is poor on clay. 1.22 is too short though. Wait for higher.

Update: Easy win 6-3, 6-1.

Bouchard hasn’t played since she injured her ankle playing Fed Cup last month. Before that she reached the quarter finals in Charleston. Soler Espinosa has also shown some good form reaching the quarter final in Marrakesh but has been poor since. She starts as slight favourite but I think this one could be close with 3 sets likely.

Update: Moved to Tuesday

Niculescu  looks a good shout to beat Erakovic. Not a terrible price at 1.50 but I think 1.75 is more realistic as Erakovic has the ability to play at a higher level with no warning.

Update: Moved to Tuesday

There’s a big difference between the rankings of Razzano ( 182 ) and Paszek ( 29 ). Razzano is playing in front of her home crowd and Paszek has been pretty terrible for a while. She will be glad when the grass season starts but for now I feel Razzano at 1.70 is worth part stake from the start. Add the rest if she goes a break behind.

Update: Moved to Tuesday

Hanescu has only beaten Ramos in 1 of their 4 meetings which were all on clay. Ramos won their 2 most recent in straight sets. They haven’t played this season. I think they will be closer today and Ramos at 1.46 is far too  low. Hanescu can be tough to break down and if he is in the mood this can be a difficult match for Ramos. Lay Ramos below 1.30.

Update: Hanescu won 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.

  1. From what I’ve read all the main draw in Strasbourg was rescheduled for tomorrow due to rain wasn’t it?

Shark how are you prospecting Roland Garros? Do you see any outsider who could potentially get to last 16 or even 32 if value could be found there?

    Many thanks XD

    1. Yes they had to move games to day.

There’s little point looking at who will do well at RG until the draw is known later this week. I will post a tournament preview on the blog then.
