Lots of tennis again this week and its on at all hours of the day so everyone can get involved if they wish 🙂

Today we have quite a few qualifying round matches to be played which usually have very little liquidity. I will be quite selective with the matches I trade today as the trading session could well be spread out and I don’t want to spend 12 or more hours staring at at computer screen.

Stakhovsky’s form hasn’t been great since he beat Federer at Wimbledon. Today’s opponent Kuznetsov is a better clay courter but so often he fails to play well for an entire match.

They have played just once before but that was almost 4 years ago and on a hard court. Stakhovsky took that one.

Kuznetsov isn’t a player I am comfortable backing below evens so I will wait for a better price but he should come through a tight match.

Update: Kuznetsov won 7-5, 3-6, 6-2.

Rosol hasn’t really found his clay court game yet and 3 consecutive first round exits won’t have helped his confidence. He is up against Granollers who can also blow hot and cold but is undoubtedly the better player on clay. Granollers won one of his title in Gstaad two years ago and whilst I want a better price than 1.51 I am favouring the Spaniard to get the win.

Update: No higher price. Granollers won 6-2, 6-4.

Goerges is nearly always a lay these days but surely she has a chance to get a win against Govortsova.

Govortsova has beaten Goerges each time they played on a hard court. The most recent was in 2008 though! Since then they have only played on clay with Goerges taking the win each time in April this year and also in 2011.

Goerges should get some free points on serve assuming her serve is firing properly and her ground strokes should be too strong. It’s her head that’s the problem.

Hopefully Goerges will go an early break down ( and not completely breakdown! ). I want to see that her game is fairly solid before backing her.

Update: She did go a break down but broke back for 3-3. She served for the set at 5-4 but was broken and lost the set in a tie break. Same old Goerges. She got worse in set 2.

Govortsova won 7-6, 6-2.

  1. Hi just wondered how you might see the Tursonov game later in the evening? Both seem to be playing quite well

    1. Hi, Surprised to see Tursunov as the dog. I don’t rate De Bakker very highly but he has had some decent results lately. A fair chance of 3 sets. Stats are conflicting. Will probably be very tight.
