This week we have two WTA tournaments and also Davis Cup matches later in the week.
Today the qualifications rounds are being completed with, as far as I can tell, just 2 main draw matches. The qualification rounds will feature on Betfair and often when there are no other matches on liquidity will be fine.
Brianti v Barrois – Qualification, Paris.
Barrois leads the head to heads 3-1 with Brianti’s win comiung in their only clay court match. They hhaven’t played since 2006. since then Brianti’s ranking has come down and Barrois’ is going in the opposit direction.
They start at around evens on Betfair.
Brianti plays her best tennis on clay and rarely gets beyond the secoond round on hard courts. Barrois reached a quarter final of an ITF event, also in France, a couple of weeks ago but other than that hasn’t been past the first round of any tournament since September 2011.
Brianti doesn’t have a bad record on indoor hard courts. She has won 6 of her last 10 matches on this surface and 32 of her last 50.
I give Brianti an edge in this one.
Update: Odd match. Barrois’ price dropped to around 1.80 before the match. She won the first set 6-0. Brianti took a 3-0 lead in the second set but Barrois won the next 6 games!
Barrois won 6–0, 6-3.
The other match that looks interesting will unfortunately overlap the above match.
Rodionova v Bremond – First round, Pattaya.
Rodionova starts as quit a strong favourite but has a poor record in Asia. She has won just 1 from 4 matches in Pattaya and has won just 40% of her matches in Asia. Bremond has won 70% of her matches in Asia.
Even so, Rodionova is rightly favourite but 1.50 is too short. either player is reliable and I will be starting with a lay on the favourite.
Update: Rodionova took a close first set but Bremond crubled in the second.
Rod won 6-4, 6-0.
