Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters – Saturday

14:30 – Djokovic v Verdasco

Rankings are 2 and 12. Head to heads are 5-2 in Djokovic’s favour. He has won their last 5 matches.

Djokovic showed he is in top form with a straight sets win over Nalbandian. He was in a different class to the Argentinian who has made an impressive return to the tour.

Verdasco has had a couple of 3 setters this week. He must have thought he had his match against Montanes won when he had 2 match points in the second set. He wasted them and lost the set but came back from that to take the decider 6-0.

I don’t see Djokovic losing this one but their matches usually go the distance.

Back Djokovic on serve. If Verdasco is holding comfortably you might consider also backing  him on his own service games but make sure you get out of the trade if a break is imminent.

Update:  Taxi for Djokovic! The number 1 seed must have been sucking on Murray Mints. Very poor display from the Croat.

Having said that Verdasco probably played some of his best tennis of the season but his task was made much easier by his opponent.

Djokovic’s first serve was poor and his unforced errors were off the scale.

Verdasco won 6-2, 6-2.
