13:00 – Llodra v Benneteau
Rankings are 79 and 39. Head to heads are 1-0 to Benneteau.
The market has them even which is about right. They have both had some great wins enroute to the final.
Benneteau came through against Tsonga in 3 sets. In the second set he had a strong lead and served for the match at 5-4 but nerves got the better of him and Tsonga came back to win the set 7-5. Benneteau’s nerve didn’t let him down in the 3rd set tie break.
Llodra has has to suffer a tie break in every round so far and has won 3 out of 4. He is playing above his ranking this week and we could be in for a great final.
Benneteau wins 77% of service games to Llodra’s 71%. Benneteau tends to play with a little more finesse than Llodra although when on form, which he clearly is, Llodra can play some brilliant tennis.
Both men are infront of a home crowd so it should be a good atmosphere.
Bennetuea has probably played the better tennis overall but I am concerned at his tendency to choke on the big occasion. He has yet to win a title on the ATP tour.
Llodra has 2 titles and therefore has experience of going all the way. I think this will be the edge today.
I would recommend watching the opening games to see who settles first. Also as the players are around 2.00 there will be gaps between the prices while the traders make up their minds which way the game is going. If one player is obviously stronger on serve you could back them on serve. Alternatively scalping will be my choice.
Llodra to win in 2 tight sets or possible 3 setter. I’d expect at least one tie break.
Update: Llodra won 6-3, 6-4.
