Kim v Gabashvili
Rankings are 102 and 76. Gabashvili is slight favourite on betfair at 1.75.
Neither man has won a game on hard courts recently. Gabashvili showed decent form on clay and will have gained some confidence from that. Their rankings suggest less than spectacular consistency and that makes this a good match for the 15-40 or scalping strategies.
My pick would be Gabashvili to move to the second round.
Update: 3 setter with Kim winning the decider 6-3. Plenty of price swings if you were able to get on them 🙂
Gil v Baghdatis
Rankings are 110 and 109 . Both men have had decent runs recently in the lesser tournaments with Baghdatis taking a title a couple of weeks ago in Vancouver. His confidence will be high and I would suggest backing him on his service games.
He is fave on betfair at 1.54 . Looking at his recent results his serve has been working well. If he gets a break of serve, let any open back bet run to the end of the set.
Update: Baghdatis was disappointing. Games between the lower ranking players can go either way and my gut feeling was wrong. Gil won 6-4, 6-3
