Hanescu v Melzer
Rankings are 28 and 38 and head to head is 4-2 in Hanescu’s favour. He also won their last meeting which was this month. He won in straight sets.
The market has them pretty much equal.
First serve % is 59%
Service games won 78%
He saves 57% of break points against him.
I recommend backing Hanescu at the start of his service games. You could back each player at the start of their service games. Wait to see how they serve in their first game. If one player breaks serve before the tie break then you should be ok to back that player to hold serve to win the set.
Could be very tight and i would expect at least 1 tie break
Update: It was tight up until the final set. The predicted tie break came in the first set with both serves working well. Hanescu took the second but fell away in the 3rd set. Melzer won 7-6, 4-6, 6-1.
Serra v Ram
Rankings are 60 and 117. Serra is 1.82 on betfair. they havent met before.
Serra’s service stats make him well worth backing on service games. Ram played well yesterday and could make a match of it.
Update: Ram did make a match of it by taking the first set 6-4. Then Serra’s serve settled down and he took the next 2 sets 7-6, 7-5.
A Radwanska v Razzano
Rankings are 12 and 17. Head to head is 2-1 to Radwanska but Razzano won their only meeting this year which was on grass.
Radwanska is currently 1.60 on betfair
Both women were taken to 3 sets in the first round and i expect this one to be fairly close. Razzano probably slightly edges it for me but it could go either way.
15-40 should work well and those of you comfortable with scalping should see several opportunities.
Update: Large price swings, especially in the second set. Radwanska won the first set 6-3 and Razzano came back in the second to take it 6-4. Radwanska then retired with a hand injury so Razzano moves through to the next round.
