13:00 – Ljubicic v Dodig
Rankings are 17 and 132. Head to head is 1-0 to Ljubicic.
Ljubicic is enjoying a great spell of form over recent weeks. He reached the semi final in China beating Murray on the way.
Dodig has served well enough this week although his last match against Kamke was pretty much handed to him thanks to all his opponent’s unforced errors.
Most of the stats over the last 3 months are actually in Dodig’s favour with perhaps just the service games held favouring Ljubicic ( 79% to 76%).
Even though they have only played on the tour once, as they are both Croatian then they certainly know each other well. That may level the playing field a little and give Dodig a bit more of a chance than the prices on Betfair suggest. Ljubicic is currently 1.48 .
Ljubicic has to be the favourite but I wouldn’t be surprised if Dodig makes a real fight of it in the first set.
Laying Ljubicic from the start is an option as he can start slowly and mis-time his backhands for the first couple of games. Dodig will know that and may target it.
After the first 2 or 3 games look to back Ljubicic on serve. Once he is warmed up he should be threatening Dodig’s serve regularly.
