I’m having the weekend off and spending the time transferring the sites over to new servers. Hmm not really a weekend off then! I didn’t realise how much content has built up over 2 years until I saw that I had around 100k files to transfer!
Anyway, lets have a look at a couple of games for today.
Davis Cup: Serbia v Argentina
Tipsarevic v Nalbandian:
They have only played once before which was in 2007 and Tipsarevic retired in the 5th set of their Oz Open match.
Nalbandian has a great record on indoor hard courts and has won 55 of his 74 matches. He played a great match against Troicki on Friday.
Tipsarevic retired against Djokovic and had the trainer on during his match with Del Potro.
Its uncertain whether Djokovic will play against Del Potro in todays earlier match. If Djokovic /Serbia wins that match then its all down to this match to decide the tie. I don’t think Tipsarevic will beat Nalbandian indoors anyway and we will almost certainly see an MTO and perhaps see Tips “bravely” hobbling round the court, not wanting to let his country down.
Any hint of injury and Nalbandian is a player who won’t go easy on his opponent as we see so many players do. He will move Tipsarevic around at every opportunity.
I’ll be backing Nalbandian from the start at 1.8
Update: Serbia made a mistake that cost them the tie. Djokovic thought he could beat Del Potro while injured. He couldn’t and was forced to retire. This gave Argentina the win and they didn’t need Nalbandian to play the final match so he was replaced by Monaco…..who retired injured!
Bell Challenge – Final:
Erakovic v Zahlavova Strycova:
BZS has probably had a smoother journey to the final with just 1 set being dropped so far. That was in her match with Lucic where she played an awful first set but turned it around in the next 2.
Erakovic has had the tougher draw but made short work of top seed Hantuchova and took out defending champ Paszek in 3 sets in their semi final.
Neither player has been in a main tour final before so no advantage either way on that score. BZS has won 6 of her 11 career finals and won both of the finals she played on carpet. Erakovic has won 10 of her 13 career finals.
Its very difficult to pick a winner but I am going with Zahlavova Strycova’s better record on carpet. She has won 14 in a row on this surface.
I’d be very surprised if we don’t see 3 sets.(2.26)
Update: Erakovic took the opening set but after that it was all BZS,
BZS won 4-6, 6-1, 6-0.
