Monaco v Robredo

Head to head is 2-2 with Monaco taking the last one a couple of months ago in straight sets, also on clay. Rankings are 61 and 16 but these 2 players are VERY close on clay. You can watch it live on bet365.com and it should be a great match.

There may not be a lot of breaks so ideally you would want to take a position at the start to get the best value from the starting prices. Prices at the time of writing this are 1.97 and 2.02 . I just can’t pick a winner here. If they are both fit and playing well, this could really go either way. Normally, even in the tightest matches I have a gut feeling as to which way it will go. For this match I have NOTHING.

So scalping will be my choice of strategy. The first break of serve in the first set will give us a nice profit if we’re on it. The player that breaks will be around 1.50 after they break serve.

2 tight sets with a good chance of a tie break at some point.

Update: Don’t think anyone predicted THAT score! Manaco won 6-0, 6-2 against the defending champion. A combination of Robredo being off his game and Monaco playing some brilliant tennis.

Yet another match that tells me I am right to scalp tennis matches. Even in this one sided match there were enough opportunities to nick ticks here and there 🙂
