WTA Indian Wells, 2nd round: Vandeweghe v Kuznetsova (19:00)

Kuznetsova won their only previous meeting. That was in August 2010. She won in straight sets on a hard court.

Vandeweghe has been inconsistent this year but reached the quarter finals in Dubai and the third round in Doha. Her form can vary a fair bit from one round to the next.  She served well in her first round win over Bertens.

Kuznetsova started the year well winning the title in Sydney but has been poor since.

This can go either way but Kuznetsova has been hard to trust lately. I will try to back Vandeweghe above 2.30.

WTA Indian Wells, 1st round: Zhang v Parmentier (20:30)

Head to heads are 1-1. Both matches were in 2011 on clay and so pretty much irrelevant.

Parmentier is having a great 2016 so far and has recently found strong form. She had 2 good wins in the qualifying rounds this week after reaching the quarter finals last week in Monterrey. She will start to tire soon. She played 6 matches last week including the qualifying rounds and has already placed twice in this tournament. We just don’t know when she will run out of steam..

Zhang ended last season strongly and has continued to play well in 2016. Quarter finals at the Australian Open as a qualifier and also won an ITF title 2 weeks ago.

Value is on Parmentier. Three sets look fairly likely.
