10:00 – Chiudinelli v Safin
Rankings are 116 and 58. They have never met.
Safin is 1.72 on betfair which after the way he played for parts of his previous match seems like decent value. If he can keep his unforced errors under control he should take this without too much trouble. However this is Safin we’re talking about!
Often early in a match he will come out with some amazing hits and winners that remind us of when he was world number 1. But those days are long gone and a few games later he can’t buy a point.
He seems on form this week though and his serve is working well. Back Safin on serve.
Update: Safin back to normal then! Chiudinelli won 6-3, 7-6
15:00 – Korolev v Ginepri
Rankings are 66 and 71. Head to heads are 2-0 to Korolev. Both matches were on hard courts.
The market has them virtually level with Ginepri at 1.95. Neither player has amazing stats on serve so 15-40 is an option.
However I expect Korolev to take this match so if he holds serve well in his first couple of service games you can back him on serve. This might seem to be contradicting my advice to use 15-40 but the whole point of 15-40 is that you wait for an opportunity. Korolev, on recent form, should hold his serve but its safer to wait a couple of games to see how his serve is working on the day.
Could be a close match.
Update: Hmm, not close at all! Korolev won 6-1, 6-1
