Cibulkova won in Moscow last year and reached the quarter final the year before. A concern today is that she retired from her last match.
Makarova has lost her last 6 matches on indoor hard courts and has a poor record in the Kremlin Cup. She somehow managed to lose against Hercog in China when she seemed to ahve the match sewn up.
Cibulkova starts at 2.08 and I feel if she starts ok and seems fit then her price will drop quickly. I will risk part stake on her at the start as she certainly has the better game for this surface.
Update: Cibulkova started the match by being broken. She managed to break back but was immediately broken again. Makarova controlled the rest of the set. Cibs eventually won the second set even though the market seemed to be expecting her to retire. She then ran away with the third set.
Cibulkova won 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Peng has won the last 3 meetings with Jankovic. They have been close matches but 1.59 on JJ seems on the low side.
Peng took Li Na to 3 sets in China and lost narrowly in a third set tie break. Jankovic seemed to be playing well in that tournament but then lost to Suarez Navarro who is in decent form but shouldn’t be beating Jankovic in straight sets.
This has to be a lay for me. I favour Jankovic to take the win but she must trade higher.
Update: Peng retired with a shoulder injury after 3 games. Bets void.
Jankovic won 3-0(ret).
Lisicki has been in dire form recently and she won’t have an easy time of it against Flipkens. She has won both their previous matches in straight sets but the last one was over a year ago.
Flipkens reached the semi finals last week so there’s a chance she is a little fatigued but I don’t think that will be an issue today. 1.60 isn’t the best price to back her as there is a slight chance Lisicki finds some form. However its more confidence that is lacking for the German and I see no reason for that to return today other than perhaps the fact that she has not lost a set to Flipkens.
I will wait for a higher price to back Flipkens . 1.80 will be my first entry.
Update: Flipkens won 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.
