I have workmen in the house so its a little hectic. So just a few quick thoughts on some of the later matches.

Tsonga will probably trade higher than his Sp of 1.28 against Lodra. Tsonga expended a great deal of energy in beating Berdych from a set down on Sunday. If this wasn’t such a big tournament and he wasn’t defending quarter final points I would say there is a good chance of Tsonga playing at 75% intensity.  So whilst he will be motivated this week his body will still be aching a little.

Llodra has lost in the first round each time he has been to Dubai which could be because he puts so much into the tounaments in France in the weeks leading up to it.

I think this one will be close but expect Tsonga to come through, possibly in 3 sets. 1.60 or better will look like value to me.

Update: Tsonga took an early lead but Llodra dragged him back to a tie break. It was Llodra who took the tie break and the prices hit evens. However Tsonga was looking jaded and the second set was over quickly.

Llodra won 7-6, 6-2.

Haas starts as favourite on Betfair at 1.50 but with doubts over his fitness a small lay might be in order. He has lost in the first round on his last 4 visits to Delray Beach.

Update: The initial lay worked well as Sijsling took the first set. He was injured in the second set. He tried to continue for a few games but was forced to retire.

Haas won 5-7, 6-4 (ret)

Oprandi should have more than enough to beat Glatch but you can’t back her at 1.20. if she hits 1.50 or better then that’s value.

Update: Oprandi  took the first but threw the second away. She needed a third set to get what should have been a straight forward win.

Oprandi won 6-4, 2-6, 7-5.

Lorenzi beat Paire in their only previous encounter  which was in October last year. This time they play on Lorenzi’s favourite surface, clay.

Paire is a slight favourite on Betfair but personally I favour the Italian. I will wait to try to lay Paire below 1.50 .

Update: Paire took the opening set to give us a decent lay price. Lorenzi won in 3.

Lorenzi won 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
