I don’t know where the day’s gone!
Plenty games left so lets see if we can find anything interesting 🙂
Chardy v Machado:
Chardy starts at 1.52 which seems huge against an out of form Machado. Chardy has a bad record in Mexico but he has won 7 in a row when starting as a moderate favourite.
Machado has lost his last 6 matches and his last 9 ATP main tour matches. He has lost 5 in a row against big servers.
Doesn’t look too hopeful for Machado and i’m sure Chardy can overcome his dislike of Mexico to get the win.
Update: Machado led for most of the first set but Chardy pulled back and won the set in a tie break.
Chardy took the second set more easily to win 7-6, 6-3.
Dodig v Bachinger:
They have played just once before and Dodig won in 2 tight sets. That was in 2009 though.
Both players have struggled recently with Bachinger losing to Olivetti in straight sets last week. Dodig’s form improved last week and he took Melzer to 3rd set tie break in Memphis and also beat Tomic there. That also went to a third set tie break.
With last week’s form in mind you have to favour Dodig and he starts at 1.56 which is a little too low. I will back with a third of my stake at the start and add the rest above 1.80 . Bachinger will need his serve to be near its best to keep him in this match.
Update: Dodig won an early break but wasn’t able to consolidate it. Bachinger broke again to take the set. Dodig won the next two close sets.
Dodig won 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
