Tuesday’s games

Its easy enough to pick out the big servers but not quite so easy to pick out those that will adjust to grass quickly….

Both Golubev and Gimeno-Traver have decent games for grass. Golubev seems to have forgotten how to win matches and the clay season won’t have helped his confidence at all. G-T has managed some respectable performances and has recent wins over Melzer and Gasquet. I’ll wait to see how they start but will be looking to lay Golubev if he seems a little shaky early in the first set. Winning is a habit and so is losing.

Update: Golubev ran away with the first set but G-T came back ton win 1-6, 7-6, 6-2.

Petzschner has a great game for grass and loves playing in Germany. Easy win for him but the price isn’t good at 1.20 .

Update: Easy first set but really not sure what Petzschner was doing in the second. He won 6-2, 7-6.

Andy Roddick is back on the grass! No thats not a phone call to the police. His price of 1.65 against Lopez seems generous. The American is short of match practice but leads the head to heads 6-0. Roddick has also won this tournament 4 times so likes the conditions. Lopez has been playing well and in particular serving well but I have to take Roddick here.

Update: Some great serving from both players. Roddick won 7-6, 6-7, 6-4.

Karlovic and Anderson may serve an ace or two between them. Karlovic has won 4 of his last 5 on grass. Anderson has lost 4 of his last 5 on grass. Karlovic has improved other parts of his game to back up his serve. The world record holder for the fastest serve is still a poor returner but a lot better than he has been. Another 1.60 shot which seems like a good price.

Update: Excellent match from Anderson who edged it 6-4, 7-6.

Today’s prices seem quite tempting on many games and Verdasco at 1.78 is another. He is up against Mahut who has a decent serve. Verdasco leads the head to head 2-0 although their only match on a fast court was a close 3 setter. The price seems too good to be true so be careful. The Spaniard didn’t start the grass season well last year and Mahut loves playing on grass. Expect a very tight match with at least 1 tie break if Verdasco can keep up. Its time for Verdasco to get back to winning ways.

Update: Verdasco won 6-2, 6-3.
