US Open – Week1 – Fri

Benneteau v Troicki

Rankings are 43 and 31.  They have never met.

Both men have decent stats for service. Benneteau’s are slightly better. 65% of first serves in and wins 75% of service games. He isn’t one of my favourite players but has been is good form over recent weeks and gave Murray a run for his money last month.

Troicki is pretty solid on service games won ( 73%) but only gets 58% of first serves in. He didnt seem to be feeling his injury in his last match so maybe that has responded well to treatment.

Back Benneteau on his service games and watch out for 15-40 opportunities.

Update: Benneteau won 6-1, 3-6, 6-1, 6-0. Decent swings in the first 3 sets.

Bellucci v Simon

Rankings are 69 and 9. They have never met.

Bellucci came through in straight sets from the first round against Yen-Hsun Lu. Simon is obviously the favourite for this match but Bellucci could keep it close for the first set.

Simon gets just 53% of first serves in but manages to save 66% of break points against him. He wins 80% of his service games.

I can only see one winner. Simon has been in  a run of good form. Back him at the start of his service games. Hopefully Bellucci can hold his own serve to keep Simon’s price up which will improve the number of ticks we can take on the Frenchman’s service games.

Simon to win in 3 or 4 sets.

Update: Simon won 6-2, 6-3, 6-4. Not a great start for backing Simon on serve as he broke in the second game. I didn’t have much time to trade this one so jumped in and out for a nice 5 minute profit…

Cuevas v Koellerer

Rankings are 68 and 62. Head to head is 1-0 to Cuevas.

These 2 guys are quite competent on clay but total numpties on hard courts.

Cuevas should take it but there will be so many mistakes its anyone’s match.

Should be perfect for the 15-40  😉

Update: Koellerer won 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, 6-4.  As you can see from the graph, there were 1 or 2 price swings 🙂
