15:00 – Ferrer v Soderling
Rankings are 8 and 5. Head to heads are 8-3 to Soderling who has won 4 of their last 5 matches.
Ferrer’s toughest match was in the first round against Garcia Lopez. He came back from a set down. He hasn’t lost a set since.
Soderling is playing well this week and hasn’t been troubled so far even beating Monfils easily in the quarter final. Soderling has consistently been reaching quarter finals in recent weeksbut this is his first semi since July.
Over the last month they have both held serve 86% of the time. Ferrer has slightly better stats on return of serve.
Soderling is possibly in better form this week although that may be cancelled out a little by Ferrer playing in front of his home crowd.
As usualy Ferrer will run all day and he can frustrate opponents however Soderling is hitting the ball very well this week and he is my tip to reach the final.
For me everything points to a 3 setter and in 8 of their 11 meetings so far the player winning the first set won the match.
Back both on serve.
