Valencia Open – Tuesday

12:00 – Kohlschreiber v Chela

Rankings are 34 and 40. Head to heads are 1-1.

Kohlschreiber pulled out of his quarter final with Melzer last week with a thigh injury. He insists he is fit now. He has been in reasonable form on hard courts lately.

Chela has been in great form especially when you think that hard courts aren’t his favourite surface. He also reached the quarter finals in Austria last week where he lost to Almagro in 3 sets.

They have never played on a hard court and Kohlschreiber, if fit, has to be a strong favourite but he will need his serve to be working at its best.

Over the last month they have held serve 86% and 82%. Kohlschreiber has better stats on return of serve which could be his edge.

Watch the opening couple of games to see that Kohlschreiber appears fit. If he is moving ok and holding ok then backing him on serve is a good option.

I don’t expect either player to have things their own way and this could easily be a three setter.

Both should be ok to back on serve.

Update: Chela won 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
