Well we have seen some poor tennis this morning especially from Zopp and Volandri. Garcia Lopez seems to have bucked the trend so far and is a set and a break up against Andujar. Not sure why his price rose 20+ ticks over night.
Dustin Brown is back in action today and this time it’s Frenchman Paire’s turn to try to work out the German Jamaican. Brown played a great match to knock out former top 10’er Davydenko in 3 sets and Paire’s price is just too low at 1.47 especially when you see that won their only previous meeting on clay last year.
I’ll be laying Paire at the start.
Isner and Mahut meet again. This time its in Isner’s back yard (sort of, although it would explain the state of the venue). 1.60 seems a fair price on the world number 11. They met in 2011 at Wimbledon having had their marathon match in 2010. That time it was a straight sets win for Isner although 2 of the sets were tie breaks. I feel Isner will have to have an off day for Mahut to win and the American top seed should be motivated.
Hewitt plays Smyczek on the grass in Newport. Both had fairly easy wins in the first round. Hewitt was helped by a poor performance on serve from Pospisil. Hewitt has been so inconsistent since returning from injury/surgery and Smyczek’s serve can keep this close.
Hewitt starts at 1.58 . I will wait to see how they start but if Hewitt is making a few too many unforced errors I will lay him.
