ATP, 16:00 – Coric v Wawrinka
Wawrinka won their only previous meeting. That was earlier this year on a hard court. He won in 2 sets.
This is Wawrinka’s first match after he retired against Kyrgios. He reached the quarter finals last year. If he is interested and fit then he will win this but I’m not sure what his mental state is right now.
Coric beat Zverev in a third set tie break in the last round. He will need to serve at his best to keep the sets close.
Wawrinka can be a sulky guy at the best of times and things probably aren’t all hearts and roses in his private life. I will probably lay Wawrinka around 1.15 . Its a fairly cheap lay and worth a go. If Coric should take set 2, either green up or remove your liability.
WTA 18:00 – Vandeweghe v Safarova
Vandeweghe won their previous meeting. That was this season on grass and she won in two tie break sets.
Vandeweghe had an excellent Wimbledon reaching the quarter final. Her current form is not as high as it was then as she has been suffering with a slight back problem. She lost her 2 matches after Wimbledon and was favourite in both This week she has beaten Putintseva in 2 sets.
Safarova reached the third round last year. She will be resting next week before the US Open. She will want to get some wins this week. She needs to find her hard court timing so she can try to defend the 4th round points at the US Open.
Back Safarova if she gets broken first.
