12:00 – Marchenko v Berrer
Rankings are 74 and 46. They haven’t played before.
Marchenko reached the quarter finals of the Aegon International last week.
A very solid server, he has a game well suited to grass.
Berrer hasn’t played since the French Open where he lost in the first round to Mardy Fish. This is due to an ankle injury which hasn’t given him a chance to make the transition from clay to grass and that puts him at a massive disadvantage today.
Marchenko has held serve 80% of the time on grass this season.
Back Marchenko on serve.
Update: Marchenko won 6-3, 7-5(Berrer retired)
19:00 – Mahut v Isner
Rankings are 148 and 19. Head to head is 1-0 to Mahut ( in 2008 on grass).
Isner hasn’t played since the French Open. I would expect him to have been practicing hard on grass as his game is very well suited to this surface. He doesn’t always travel well but should feel more at home in the UK.
Isner wins 88% of his service games and if his serve is firing today he is a strong favourite.
Mahut has won 4 of his last 5 Grand Slam matches and has won 5 in a row where his opponent was a big server.
The key today will be Isner’s serve. If he is firing aces then he should take the match.
Back Isner on serve.
Update : Currently 2 sets each. The game will be finished Wednesday.
