Begu 1.74, McHale 2.28
Head to heads are 1-1. They last met In Madrid in May 2016 on clay. Begu won in 3 close sets. McHale won on a hard court in an ITF tournament in San Diego in 2008.
Mchale has been in pretty poor form this season. She has 2 wins from 8 matches. Her wins were against opponents ranked 229 and 402. She did retire before her deciding set with Bondarenko in the Sydney qualifying rounds at the start of the year so maybe she has a recurring injury.
Begu has made a respectable start to 2018 on hard courts. She reached the semi finals in Shenzhen, China in the first week of January.
Mchale will find her timing and her confidence soon but I am going with Begu tonight. Wait for 1.85 before backing her.
