Muguruza 1.48, Strycova 3.00
Rain delays in China so we’re not sure when this starts.
Muguruza leads their previous matches 3-2. They last met in June this year in Eastbourne. Muguruza wasn’t really interested that week and won just 1 game.
Much stronger results for Muguruza this year. She has won 71% of matches. Strycova won 59%. Since the loss to Strycova on the Eastbourne Grass Muguruza won Wimbledon and Cincinnati and her worst week was a third round in Toronto. She made the quarter finals in Wuhan last week losing out to Ostapenko in 3 sets. She won this title in 2015 and got to the third round last year so is clearly interested in this tournament.
Strycova reached the second round last year which was her best result in Beijing. She has had some tough opponents recently but can be a little inconsistent anyway. She reached the quarter finals in Toronto last month.
I have to favour Muguruza but expect Strycova to be competitive. I’ll back her above 1.65.
