WTA Beijing, Quarter Final: Strycova v Kvitova, 9:30am

Strycova 3.55, Kvitova 1.38

Kvit leads their previous matches 7-1. The last time they met was in Zhuhai, China in October last year. Kvitova won in straight sets on a hard court. Strycova’s win was back in 2011 in Indian Wells, USA and she won in 3 sets on a hard court. Kvitova won their last 5 matches.

Petra Kvitova

Kvitova has won her last 25 matches against Czech players! She was very impressive in the last round against Wozniacki. She faced just 4 break points and saved them all. She lost just 4 points on her first serve. Last year she also reached the quarter finals where she lost to Madison Keys in a third set tie break.

Strycova has played well this week but Muguruza retired in the first round and Goerges was feeling ill in the second match. I wonder how Kvitova is feeling. She has done reasonably well on hard courts this year but will have to raise her game if Kvitova plays as she did in the last round.

Kvitova often starts slowly even when playing well. Back her if she gets broken first.

Update: Kvitova controlled the match from the start and won in 2 sets.
