WTA French Open: Goerges v Cibulkova

Expect a long match but Goerges has better results this season

Due to start at 3:30 pm

Goerges 1.90, Cibulkova 2.10

Cibulkova won their only previous meeting. That was at Wimbledon on 2011 and she won in 3 sets.

Goerges has stronger overall results in the last 12 months and also in 2018.

Cibulkova found some clay form from nowhere last week and reached the final in Strasbourg. She lost that final to Pavlyuchenkova in 3 tie break sets. She also reached an indoors final in Budapest in February which she also lost in 3 sets.

clay in April and made the third round in Madrid losing to Garcia. She has also played extremely well on hard courts and took the title in Auckland in January.

Goerges’ clay results are a little better. Cibulkova may be a little fatigued. Its been a while since she had a good tournament and played so many matches in a week. We have a good chance of 3 sets.

There is some value on Cibulkova but I think Goerges will take a close match. Back Goerges above 2.10.

Update: Goerges was broken in her first service game but immediately broke back. Another break gave her the set. In set two it was very tight and a single late break of serve sent the set Cibulkova’s way.

Cibulkova had given all she had and didn’t win a game in the deciding set.

Goerges won 6-4, 5-7, 6-0.
