Head to head info from Tennis Insight

Halep has slightly better overall results in the last 12 months and in 2018. Halep’s clay results are also stronger. She won 14 of 17 this season. Kerber won 8 of her 12 clay matches in 2018. Stats for the tournament favour Halep.

Halep made a slow start to the tournament losing the first set to Riske but has been impressive since. Mertens won just 3 games against her in the last round.

Kerber was also very strong in the last round and lost just 5 games to Garcia. She faced just 1 break point. Bertens gave her the toughest test in the third round. Kerber started the match as slight underdog but won in two tie breaks.

I favour Halep to win this but she can’t be backed at this price. So many times this year she has been impressive in the early rounds but then had a terrible match. We have a good chance of 3 sets.

Back Halep after she gets broken or if she loses set 1.
