Due to start at 3:30 pm
Kasatkina 1.66, Puig 2.44
Kasatkina leads their previous matches 2-1. They last met in Charleston, USA in April 2017. Kasatkina won on clay in 3 sets. All their matches went to 3 sets and Kasatkina took the opening set each time.
Their 12 month results are quite even. Puig has the better results in 2019. Puig has stronger clay results this season.
Kasatkina made a weak start to the season but has started to find form. She reached the 3rd round in Rome and played well in the first round this week. She reached the quarter finals of the French Open last season and the third round in the two previous years.
Puig reached the quarter finals in Strasbourg last week beating Astra Sharma and losing in 3 sets to Sabalenka. She beat Flipkens this week in straight sets. She has had a couple of third round finishes in Paris with the most recent being in 2016. She didn’t play the tournament last season and lost to Ostapenko in the second round in 2017.
I think we have a good chance of seeing 3 sets. Back Kasatkina around 1.85 or wait for her to be broken before backing her.
