Due to start at 6:30 am
Kenin 1.98, Cornet 1.99
Cornet won their only previous meeting in Cincinnati in August 2018. She won on a hard court in straight sets.
Stronger overall results for Kenin in the last 12 months. She also leads on hard courts 60% v 52% matches won. Kenin’s ROI on hard courts is higher.
Neither player has lost a set so far. Kenin has had much tougher opponents. Garcia, Jabeur and Flipkens were all capable of giving her a hard time and I had expected Garcia to beat her in the first round. Garcia wasn’t terrible but Kenin gave her very few chances. She only faced 3 break points and she saved them all.
Stats for the tournament favour Cornet but two of her three opponents were ranked outside the top 300. She dealt with all her matches well. Parmentier could have been expected to give her a few scares but in the end won just 3 games.
The market has moved towards Kenin in the last few hours. I still see some value on her. Lay Cornet if she breaks first or wins set 1
Update: Kenin won 6-2, 6-4. Cornet had a 3-0 lead in the second set but couldn’t hold on. She took a medical timeout when Kenin broke for a 4-3 lead.
