Due to start at 8 pm
Kerber 1.60, Andreescu 2.62
This will be the first time they have played.
Better overall results for Andreescu in the last 12 months and also in 2019. Her hard court results are also stronger in the last year. Her ROI is a lot higher although that really isn’t a surprise as Kerber starts most of her matches at a low price.
Andreescu beat Svitolina in 3 sets in the last round. She started that match slowly and was broken in her first two service games. She fought back to take the set and then broke serve at the start of set two. Her own serve deserted her in that set and she held serve just once. She also took an early break in the third set but Svitolina pulled back to 3-3. Another break gave Andreescu the chance to serve the match. She was looking pretty tired by this stage and faced 3 break points in that final game. She finally managed to convert her fourth match point.
Kerber has had a good week. She beat Sabalenka, Venus Williams and in form Bencic in her last 3 matches. Bencic was her opponent in the semi final. Bencic has been in amazing form. She had won her last 10 matches and had taken the title in Dubai. She had won her last 6 matches against top 10 players. Bencic twice took a break lead in their opening set but Kerber broken back each time and a further break was enough to give her the opening set. Bencic broke in the first game of set two but was unable to hold her own serve once in that set.
Stats for the tournament favour Kerber in everything except service holds. Andreescu reached her first main tour final in Auckland in January. She lost to Goerges in 3 sets. Kerber has won her last 4 finals. Two were in the Hopman Cup exhibition event and 1 was over a below par Serena Williams at Wimbledon.
We have a very good chance of seeing 3 sets. Back Kerber around 1.90.
