Gavrilova 2.46, Cibulkova 1.67
Cibulkova won their only previous meeting. That was in June 2016 on the grass of Wimbledon. She won in straight sets.
Slightly better results this year for Gavrilova. She has won 59% of her matches this season. Cibulkova won 56% of her matches. On hard courts their results are more similar though Gavrilova has a slightly higher ROI. Results in their last 10 hard court matches give Cibulkova a small edge.. Stats this week favour Cibulkova in everything except service holds.
Gavrilova lost her only set of the week in the first round against qualifier Kristyna Pliskova. Her serve has come under a lot of pressure this week although Radwanska in the semi final gave her less trouble than the rest and really didn’t look interested.
Cibulkova also lost her only set in her first match. Cornet won the first set. In her second match a delay caused by a spectator collapsing destroyed Pavlyuchenkova’s concentration. Mertens had played well in previous rounds but was disappointing in the semi final.
I think we have a good chance of 3 sets and favour Cibulkova to win. Lay Gavrilova if she breaks first or wins the first set.
