Pavlyuchenkova has won all 3 of their previous meetings. They last met in Canada in July 2016. She won in straight sets on a hard court. Their other 2 matches went to 3 sets on hard and grass courts.
McHale lost in the qualifying rounds this week. She beat Haddad Maia and Doi in 2 sets but lost out to Cepede in the third qualifying round. Her recent form has been disappointing.
Stronger hard court results for Pavlyuchenkova this year. She has has an excellent season though she was poor last week in Cincinnati. She reached the quarter finals in her last 2 visits to this tournament which were in 2011 and 2013.
Pavlyuchenkova should take this if fit but I wouldn’t back her until she gets broken.
