Due to start at 3 pm
Kerber 1.64, Mertens 2.52
Kerber won their only previous meeting which was in the Hopman Cup exhibition in December 2017. She won on an indoor hard court in two tie breaks.
Kerber started her quarter final very slowly and was playing like she did against Collins at the Australian Open. She won just 1 game in the opening set. She was broken at the start of set 2 but then started to play better and easily won that set. She was 3-0 up in the 3rd set but needed a tie break to finally win the match.
I had expected Bertens to beat Mertens in the last round but she served really badly and was never really in the match. Mertens was put under the most pressure by Kristyna Pliskova in the second round but has not lost a set so far this week.
I think Mertens will put Kerber under pressure today. The Strycova match should do Kerber good as a scrap is great to fine tune your game. Back Kerber around 1.85
