WTA Rabat, Semi Final: Sakkari v Van Uytvanck

Due to start at 3:30 pm

Sakkari 1.69, Van Uytvanck 2.40

Head to heads are 1-1. Both their matches were in 2017. Van Uytvanck won on grass in an ITF tournament in Ilkley, UK.  Sakkari retired when 3-0 down in the third set.  Sakkari “won” in a clay tournament in Bol, Croatia when Van Uytvanck withdrew!

Overall results are VERY even in the last 12 months and in 2019. There’s really not that much between them on clay but Sakkari has the smallest of edges.

Sakkari beat defending champion Elise Mertens in straight sets in the last round. Mertens didn’t have her best day and hit 8 double faults and was broken 5 times.  Sakkari played two pretty solid matches in the previous rounds.

Van Uytvanck served well against Parmentier and Lepchenko.  Neither of those players have great clay records. IN the quarter final she was up against a decent clay courter in Bonaventure.  Bonaventure took the first set but was struggling on serve and that serve deserted her for the next 2 sets.

This should be competitive. Back Sakkari around 1.90.

Update: Sakkari was broken in the first game of the match and went on to win 6-4, 6-4.
