WTA Rogers Cup, Third Round: Kenin v Yastremska

Due to start at 4 pm.

Kenin 2.06, Yastremska 1.92

Yastremska won their only previous match. That was at Wimbledon in July. She won on grass in 3 sets.

Overall results are quite even in the last year.  Their 12 month results slightly favour Yastremska. Kenin has a small lead in 2019 and a higher ROI. On hard courts both player have strong records. Yastremska has the better results over the last 12 months and Kenin is ahead in 2019. 70% v 68% matches won.

Yastremska beat Konta in the first round and then Azarenka in the last round. She won both matches in 2 sets. She was underdog both times. On hard courts this season she won the title in Hua Hin, the third round at the Australian Open and the quarter finals in Hobart.

Kenin beat Barty in 3 sets in the last round. There was talk of Barty being injured but she competed well. Barty’s serve was well below her best and she hit 5 d faults and was broken 6 times. Kenin reached the final in Acapulco, the third round in Dubai and won the title in Hobart.

Very tough one to predict. Both players’ best hard court results were at the start of the season.  I am going with Yastremska to win. Her stats for the week are a little better.

Lay Kenin around 1.65.

Update: Awful performance from Yastremska! Kenin won 6-2, 6-2.
