Mladenovic 2.26, Wang 1.66
Wang won their only previous meeting. That was in February this year in Dubai. She won in straight sets on a hard court.
Both have won 63% of matches this season. On hard courts Wang has been stronger with 63% of matches won to Mladenovic’s 47%.
Mladenovic reached the final in Acapulco on hard courts in February and the following week she won through to the semi finals in Indian Wells beating Halep and Wozniacki before losing to Vesnina. Since then she has won just 1 match from 8 on hard courts. She was pre match favourite in 7 of those 8 matches. She will find form again but her confidence can’t be high.
Wang reached the quarter finals in Dubai and Kuala Lumpur in February. She won a WTA Challenger tournament on hard courts in Zhengzhou, China in April and last week she got to the quarter finals in Tokyo.
As Mladenovic continues to struggle it is hard to trust her so I prefer to back Wang here but wait for 2.10
