Konjuh 2.62, Barty 1.58
This will be their first meeting.
Barty has had an excellent season. She has won 71% of her matches in 2017. Ana Konjuh has won 57% of hers. Barty’s hard courts results are even better with 21 wins from 27 which is 77%. Recently she reached the third round in Cincinnati as qualifier where she lost out to Wozniacki after beating Venus Williams. The week before she also got through the qualifying rounds to reach the third round. She beat Vesnina that week and took Muguruza to 3 sets.
Konjuh hasn’t had many good weeks on hard courts though started the year with a final in Auckland. She also reached the quarter finals in Dubai where she beat Sam Stosur. She was injured for most of the clay season but performed well on grass which included a fourth round at Wimbledon. After reaching the quarter finals in Stanford she was injured and retired from Toronto.
I expect Konjuh to be competitive but favour Barty to win. Back Barty if she gets broken or loses set 1.
Update: Konjuh won the 1st set. Barty won the nest 2 sets losing just 1 game.
