Puig’s over all results this season have been stronger. She started the year well on hard courts with a semi final in Doha and a third round in Dubai. Both those tournaments were in February. Her form since has been a little erratic.

Chirico had won just 3 of 16 matches this season before this tournament. She has come through the qualifying rounds this week. . She needed 3 sets to beat 2 players outside the top 250. She has not won a main draw hard court match since Indian Wells in March.
I have to favour Puig on hard courts but will only back her if she gets broken or loses set 1
