WTA Wimbledon, Fourth Round: Goerges v Vekic

Due to start at 1 pm

Goerges 1.89,  Vekic 2.10

Goerges won their only previous meeting. That was Budapest on an indoor hard court and she won in straight sets.

Overall results favour Goerges in the last 12 months and in 2018. Their grass results are very even. Stats for the tournament favour Vekic.

Goerges’ first serve has been excellent. Her second serve looked a little vulnerable in the first two rounds but in the third round against Strycova it improved.

Vekic has not dropped a set so far. Sloane Stephens in the first round

Vekic

Donna Vekic

was a shadow of the player who reached the French Open final a couple of months ago. Vekic’s first serve was very strong in the last round against Wickmayer and she won 92% of points on that first delivery.

Value on Vekic. The match will be very tight and three sets look likely.   Lay Goerges if she break first or wins set one.

Update: Vekic had 9 break points and didn’t take one. Disappointing from  her but Goerges deserved the win.

Goerges won 6-3, 6-2.
