12:50 – Gasquet v Berrer
Rankings are 30 and 66. Head to heads are 2-0 to Gasquet.
Gasquet hasn’t played since his defeat to Berdych at the Oz Open. His match yesterday was called off when Clement pulled out so the Frenchman could be a bit rusty in the opening games.
Berrer has won both his matches this week in straight sets and has been playing some good aggressive tennis and serving well.
It isn’t uncommon for Gasquet to start slowly anyway so with his last competitive match being 2 weeks ago I think he may struggle to hold serve at the start and also may take a couple of games to regain his timing on return. This points to a lay of Gasquet from the start.
I’d expect Gasquet to win the match so if we do get a break from Berrer then hedge for the profit.
Once Gasquet gets into the swing again I would expect him to take control of the match so don’t stay in the lay trade too long.
Possibly a 3 setter.
If you’re into backing on serve then back Gasquet on serve but leave the opening couple of games alone for the reasons I stated above.
Update: Gasquet quit just 2 points before the end of the first set. All bets are void.
