What is tennis swing trading?

Swing trading tennis matches on Betfair is all about finding a value price on a player that does not represent their true chances of winning the match.
The trader uses their knowledge of the player and how they perform in certain situations.
The opening trade is placed at the value price and closed after a significant move in the player’s price such as a break of serve or when they win the set.

The price swings can be huge on tennis. Take a look at this price graph.

Those spikes in the price all represent potential profit taking opportunities. That graph is not at all unusual and in fact it is much rarer to get a price graph that is more or less a straight line downwards

So how do we know when to get into the market and when to take profit? Firstly let’s make one thing clear. Those price spikes are also potential loss situations. I am not going to tell you that tennis trading is easy. You need to experience many matches and many markets before you can reliably spot good entry points.

Try to find someone who you can bounce ideas off. There is a free Telegrroom on the TradeShark blog at https://blog.tradesharktennis.com. The room is open to anyone and is used by experienced and learning traders. It is a great place to pick up some gems of info about trading tennis.

With swing trading the key is not to get greedy. The old saying about cutting losing trades short and letting winning trades run doesn’t fit too well with tennis. Markets can change direction in a minute or two.

Initially, be happy with a ROI of 10%. Return On Investment is the profit made divided by the largest liability that you had during the match. As you get more experienced you can stay in trades a little longer for a higher ROI.
