WTA Seoul, Semi Final: Linette v Alexandrova

Due to start at 07:30

Magda Linette 2.10, Ekaterina Alexandrova 1.86

This will be their first meeting.

Alexandrova has better overall results in the last 12 months and Linette has a small lead in 2019. Linette’s hard court results are stronger in the last 12 months and also in 2019.

Linette has not lost a set so far. Potapova gave her the toughest test in their second round match. Begu and Flipkens were never really in contention.

Alexandrova has lost the opening set in the last 2 rounds. She was fairly comfortable against Greetje Minnen in the 1st round. Against Kristyna Pliskova in the second round she only faced 2 break points and was broken just once in 3 sets.  She played American Kristie Ahn in the quarter final and hit 22 aces in their 3 sets

Stats for the tournament give Alexandrova a slight lead on service holds and favour Linette for everything else. We have some value on Linette and I give her the edge to win.

Lay Alex around 1.50 to 1.60 and remove liability at 2.10.

WTA Guangzhou Open: Bouzkova v Blinkova

Due to start at midday

Marie Bouzkova 1.93, Anna Blinkova 2.04

Blinkova was slight favourite last night.

This will be their first meeting.

Overall results in the last 12 months and in 2019 are close but slightly favour Blinkova. She also has a much better ROI.

Bouzkova  struggled in the 1st round against a Chinese qualifier. She saved 4 match points in the 3rd set tie break. She came through the last round when Svitolina retired. She has only had 1 decent week in WTA hard court tournaments. It was an excellent one though reaching the semi finals in Toronto as a qualifier. In the main draw she beat a low ranked wild card, out of form Sloane Stephens, Ostapenko, an injured Simona Halep who retired and took Serena Williams to 3 sets. Williams retired early in the final.

Blinkova has had a little luck this week. She was 4-1 up on Sorribes Tormo when the Spaniard retired and she faced out of form Aleksandra Krunic in the 2nd round. She won the Challenger title in New Haven on hard courts earlier this month. It was a strong field for a Challenger. She beat Christina McHale, Jennifer Brady and Lauren Davis before beating in form Arconada in the final. She also reached the quarter finals in New York last month.

Despite the slight drift in her price I am still favouring Blinkova to win. Back her around 2.20 or wait for her to be broken before backing.
