WTA BNP Paribas Fortis Diamond Games, 16:30 – Suarez Navarro v Giorgi
They have played once before which was on an indoor hard court last season. Giorgi won 7-6, 6-4.
Their stats over the last 6 months are quite similar but Giorgi is slightly edging it over all.
Suarez Navarro has reached a couple of quarter finals this season but was dumped out of the first round in Melbourne by the 104 ranked Witthoeft in straight sets.
Giorgi had a quarter final finish in Hobart and followed that up with a third round in the Australian Open.
I have to favour Giorgi for this but I am expecting a scrappy match with a few breaks along the way. Giorgi starts at 1.67 but I wouldn’t price her below 1.80 . Carla is very capable on a hard court.
ATP ABN AMRO World Tennis, 20:15 – Dimitrov v Muller
Dimitrov is ranked number 111 right now and you just know he is going to be busting a gut to get back inside the top 10. He gains some points if he wins today as he lost to Gulbis at this stage last year.
The have played just once before which was on grass in 2012. Dimitrov won in 2 close sets (7-6, 6-4).
Muller has the edge from the service line but it is Dimitrov who is streets ahead in all other departments.
Dimitrov starts at 1.32 and based on his first round match and also Muller’s form this season that looks low. I think Muller has a chance to nick a set in a tie break this time but I don’t think that if he gets into a position to take the match that he will be able to take it.
I think a lay of Dimitrov around 1.25 in the early games gives us a chance for a trade. Remove the liability on him if he gets broken. IF Muller takes the opening set switch most of the green to Dimitrov.
