18 Sep 2013 – Late look at this afternoon’s matches

A lot of my time today has been spend chasing the hosting company so my research was limited to the short listed matches for the Shark Tips. 3 of the 4 picks won with Dulgheru losing 4-6 in the third so a better day than yesterday!

Kamke faces the Hungarian qualifier Fucsovics who took out Chardy in straight sets last night.

Kamke had a good win yesterday against Gicquel and really should be able to get through this one too.

The predicted holds favour the German although Fucsovics hits a decent ball from the service line. I have to go with Kamke to get the win but I can see the first set being close and we will see a higher price on him than his 1.30 SP.

Update: Kamke won 1-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Querrey made it past Karlovic in the first round and now finds himself facing  home crowd favourite Mathieu.

They have met just once but it was in 2008. For the record Querrey won in 3 sets on a hard court.

They are very closely matched on paper and I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see 3 sets. Querrey starts at 1.68 which is no value.

Mathieu came through his match against an injured Sijsling so I will be favouring the American because whilst his ground strokes aren’t the best he seems to be serving as well as he has for a while.

Querrey in 3 tight sets with at least 1 tie break.

Update: Mathieu retired after the first set. Querrey won 6-2(ret)

Youzhny has an awful record against Garcia Lopez. The Spaniard leads their head to heads 5-1 yet Youzhny’s single victory came at this tournament last year. He won in 3 sets.

Youzhny has found some real form this season and reached the quarter finals of the US Open losing in 4 sets to Djokovic.

I fancy Youzhny to get the win today but his starting price of 1.30 is nuts. I will back him a break down.

4 of their 6 matches went to 3 sets. It is worth noting that on hard courts they are 1-1.

Update: Garcia Lopez won 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

Tsonga is back! However it would be a brave man to back him without seeing him play a few games first. He won’t be match fit and he will probably start slowly. I’d suggest just watching this one as he is always value for money in an entertainment sense.

Update: Tsonga won 6-3, 6-4.
